Diet Pocket is a budget meal planning app for Indian students and fitness beginners. This policy explains, in plain language, what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how you can delete it.
1. What we collect
- Account details from your Google sign-in: your name, email address and account ID. We do not see or store your Google password.
- Signed-in accounts complete a name and 10-digit phone number before opening account features. Guests can plan meals without an account or phone number.
- Profile and preferences: your diet type (veg / egg / non-veg), fitness goal, taste preference, meal environment, budget choices, and your height and weight, which help tailor meal portions.
- Daily activity logs: which meals you marked as eaten, along with their estimated price and protein.
- Guest setup, meals, recipes, photos, eaten marks and meal exclusions are saved on your device. A random guest token and temporary request counters protect daily limits. Network addresses are processed to make daily salted hashes for abuse protection; raw addresses are not stored in our application database.
- Meal reports contain the dish name, reason, optional note, displayed price and protein, app version and submission time, linked to an account or random guest identifier. Only the app owner reviews reports. Please do not include personal or medical details in a report.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, health records, or any payment information. The app has no in-app purchases.
2. How we use your data
- Your preferences, height and weight are sent to our AI service to tailor meal suggestions and portions to your diet, goal and per-meal budget. For example, 100 rupees per meal permits up to 300 rupees for three meals. Do not treat suggestions as medical prescriptions.
- Your daily logs are used to show how much you have spent and how much protein you have eaten today.
- Your name and email identify your account so your saved profile and logs follow you across devices when you sign in again.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
- After Google sign-in, guest setup and meals are saved to an account without existing setup. If the account already has setup, account data takes priority and the guest plan is discarded. Offline reports wait on this device until the same account or guest reconnects.
- We count welcome, setup, first-plan, sign-in-prompt, sign-in-completion, eaten and report events as daily aggregate totals. These totals contain no names, contact details, body measurements, meal notes or account identifiers.
3. Health and price disclaimer
- Diet Pocket provides general meal suggestions and estimated market prices for common Indian foods. It is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
- Meal suggestions are general guidance based on the preferences and body measurements you enter. They are not a prescription and do not account for medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy or medication.
- Prices shown are estimates for typical local servings and may differ from what you actually pay.
- Ingredient "Order" links open Amazon India. As an Amazon Associate, Diet Pocket earns from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. We only send the ingredient name in the link — never your name, email, phone or profile. Amazon's own privacy policy applies on their site.
- Always consult a qualified doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, especially if you have a health condition.
4. How long we keep your data (retention)
- Your profile, preferences and daily logs are kept for as long as your account is active, so the app keeps working when you return.
- If you stop using the app and delete your account, your personal data is deleted as described in section 6.
- Guest credentials expire after 30 days; older guest records and linked reports are removed during subsequent guest registration cleanup. Temporary hashed request counters are removed after seven days during subsequent requests. Device copies remain until you clear site data or delete an account on that device.
- Account-linked reports remain until account deletion. Anonymous aggregate event totals and dish-level moderation decisions may be retained to improve quality; they do not contain your profile or report notes.
5. Your rights and choices
- You can view and edit your name, phone number, diet, goal, taste, environment, height and weight at any time from the profile screen inside the app.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by contacting us (see section 7).
- You can also stop using the app at any time and request account deletion — see section 6.
6. Account deletion
- Delete inside the app: open Diet Pocket → Profile tab → scroll down → tap "Delete my account and data" → confirm. After deletion succeeds you are signed out. If deletion fails, the app shows an error so you can retry or contact us.
- Delete by email: if you can't open the app, email support@dietpocket.in from the email you signed in with and write "Delete my account". We complete email requests within 30 days.
- What is deleted from active account records: your sign-in account, email, name, phone, preferences, measurements, saved meals and history, and account-linked meal reports. Local app data, including queued reports, is cleared on the device where deletion is performed. Clear site data on other devices to remove their offline copies.
- Anonymous event totals and dish-level moderation keys can remain because they are not linked to your account. Hosting providers may retain temporary security logs and backups under their own retention rules; we do not promise immediate erasure from every provider backup.
- Uninstalling the app alone does not delete your account — use one of the options above.
